Pench National Park is located on the boundary of Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh, close to Maharashtra's northern border. Pench National Park derives its name from the River Pench flowing through the National Park. Pench National Park is spread over 758 sq km.

It was declared a sanctuary in 1977 but raised to the status of National park in 1983. Later it was established as the Tiger Reserve area in 1992. The best time to visit Pench national park is during the months of February to April. Summer is a good time to spot the animals when they come out to drink at the waterholes. The park remains closed from July 1st to October 14th.
